Handle on Plate – Classic Door Handles for Every Interior
A handle on plate, also known as a lever on backplate, is one of the most popular ways to dress a door, combining a spring-loaded lever with a decorative backplate that covers the mortice mechanism beneath. Our collection covers handle on plate sets for internal and external doors, giving you a distinctive, coordinated look whether you're renovating a period home or fitting out a modern build.
Styles and Locking Options for Every Door
Handle on plate sets come in a range of styles, from classic Victorian scroll and ornate Art Deco designs to clean, minimalist profiles suited to contemporary interiors. Beyond the visual style, the backplate itself determines function: a lever latch backplate simply operates a tubular latch for non-locking doors, while a lever lock version works with a mortice sashlock, letting the door be secured with a key. Bathroom backplates include an integrated privacy turn for bedrooms and en-suites, and euro profile backplates are designed to sit around a euro cylinder for doors already fitted with a euro lock. Since each lever is spring-loaded, it returns to a level, horizontal resting position automatically after use, keeping the handle looking neat and reducing strain on the door's latch or lock.
Finishes to Suit Traditional and Contemporary Interiors
Our handle on plate range is available in a broad choice of finishes to match any décor. Choose from polished and satin brass or aged brass for a warm, traditional feel, satin and polished chrome or nickel for a clean contemporary look, and matt bronze or black iron for a bold, striking statement door. Solid brass construction with corrosion-resistant plating ensures these handles keep their finish and smooth action through years of daily use.
